I collected the seed of this near Bim Tal, Uttar Pradesch, in the Himalayan foothills. It is a particularly ground hugging clone, unlike a lot of C.microphyllus offered for sale which a quite upright.

Cotoneaster tomentellus Cotoneaster tomentellus

A rare spreading shrub with arching branches. Leaves grey-green above, whitish beneath. Inconspicuous flowers are followed by bright coral-red berries.

This is the plant introduced by Wilson in 1908 under the name of Cot. racemiflora  var. soongorica. This plant's identity was confirmed for me by Janet Fryer who has the national collection of Cotoneasters. The only place I have seen it growing is at Hidcote Gardens near the entrance.
